Fitchburg Art Walk 2024: Transforming the City into an Open-Air Museum

Fitchburg, MA – From October 12 to November 9, 2024, Fitchburg’s Main Street will be transformed into an immersive, open-air museum by renowned local artist Digi Chivetta. Known for her powerful mural at Fitchburg Abolitionist Park and her acclaimed participation in the Dialogues, Diasporas, and Detours Through Africa exhibition at The Fitchburg Art Museum, Digi Chivetta is set to present her most ambitious public art project yet: The Fitchburg Art Walk 2024.

Born from the overwhelming response to her previous exhibition, which only showcased a fraction of her work, Fitchburg Art Walk 2024 is a unique opportunity for Digi to fully display her bold, intricate, and thought-provoking body of work. The project will take over Main Street, turning it into Digi’s personal museum, where her art will be freely accessible to residents and visitors alike.

This temporary art walk is more than just an exhibition; it’s a dynamic experience designed to bring tourism to Fitchburg and foster healing within the community. By integrating art into the fabric of the city, Digi aims to engage the public, celebrate Fitchburg’s rich cultural heritage, and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the downtown area.

“The Fitchburg Art Walk 2024 is about more than just showcasing my art,” Digi Chivetta explains. “It’s about creating a space where the community can come together, connect, and heal through the power of art. I want people to feel a sense of pride and inspiration as they walk down Main Street and see their city transformed.”

The project is expected to draw significant attention, both locally and beyond, making Fitchburg a destination for art lovers and cultural enthusiasts. Visitors are invited to explore the art walk at their own pace, discovering the stories and inspirations behind each piece in an environment that blends the everyday with the extraordinary.

Experience firsthand how Digi Chivetta is using art to not only transform the cityscape but also to inspire and uplift the community.
