I Got Some New Ink in Salem

ree

A few weeks ago, I got a throat tattoo at Studio 13 Tattoo in Salem, MA. Although I already had four tats, this one would be the most visible. I knew it had to be something special, and I had to get it somewhere significant. The witchy vibe of Salem is so in line with my energy, so it was an easy choice; which symbol to use, however, was not. On such a delicate part of the body, the design has to be clean, simple, and yet unique. There had to be intention in every single line.

I used the unalome symbol as my inspiration because I can genuinely relate to the meaning. My life has been a wild ride, and there were many instances when it should have ended. The fact that I'm still here made me feel like there must be a reason. I love that the Unalome shows that the path to enlightenment and true happiness isn't supposed to be straight. The swirl at the top represents chaos, and the loops represent the meandering path we take to escape the chaos and reach enlightenment. For me, the path to enlightenment is synonymous with my path to finding Olodumare, which has brought me true happiness. So, I added the symbol for Olodumare at the end of the path.

Now to answer the big question on everyone's mind, "Yeah, Ok, Digi. But, what did it have to be on your THROAT?!" The answer is that I wanted the symbol for Olodumare to be over my throat chakra so that I could speak her will whenever I sing oriki.

Since Oriki is sacred, I cannot make it available to the public. However, if you'd like to hear my oriki, please join my Patreon!
